Ripple, a financial technology company, is actively working with governments and private sectors to bring Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) to life in 2023. To further drive this agenda, Ripple’s Vice President of Central Bank Engagements and CBDCs, James Wallis, will be delivering the keynote at a webinar addressing the potential use cases and benefits of a digital pound in the United Kingdom. The webinar is hosted by the Digital Pound Foundation, which Ripple joined in October 2021.

The Digital Pound Foundation is focused on the development and launch of a digital pound in the United Kingdom. Ripple’s Head of Policy, Susan Friedman, is also a board member of the foundation and is working to engage with central banks around the world on technical and policy issues related to CBDCs.

The webinar will feature a panel of experts discussing the potential use cases and benefits of a digital pound. William Lorenz, co-leader of the Digital Pound Foundation’s use case working group, will join the panel, as well as Chris Ostrowski, CEO and co-founder of SODA, Jakub Zmuda, strategy officer at Modulr, Andrew Dare, CTO banking and financial markets director advisory expert at CGI, Claire Conby, managing director at Billon, and David Karney, head of digital assets at Worldline.

The discussion will focus on the benefits that CBDCs offer, such as improved security, improved access, cost savings, and faster payments. CBDCs can also help with financial inclusion and digital identity. The panel will also discuss the challenges that need to be overcome in order to successfully launch a digital pound, such as the legal and regulatory framework, infrastructure, and technology.

Ripple’s involvement in the discussion is part of the company’s ongoing mission to drive innovation in financial services. By working with governments and private sectors to bring CBDCs to life, Ripple hopes to facilitate a new era of faster, more secure, and more efficient payments.

The webinar will be a great opportunity to learn more about the potential use cases and benefits of a digital pound in the United Kingdom. It will also be a chance to gain insight into the challenges that need to be overcome in order to successfully launch a digital pound, and Ripple’s role in driving this agenda.
